    The use of the word 'compromise' is I think encouraging.

    If it was up toFrank Luntz, Republicans would not use the word 'compromise'; they would use ''cooperation.'

    Here is a break down of Repubo-talk

    Instead of:
    'capitalism' use 'economic freedom'
    'tax the rich' = 'take from the rich'
    'middle class' = 'hardworking taxpayers'
    'jobs' = 'careers'
    'government spending' = 'waste'
    'entrepreneur' = 'job creator'
    'sacrifice' = 'we're all in this together'

    So when you here a Republican say:

    'We can't just take from the rich. The job creators and the hardworking taxpayers are all in this together."

    You know that they are really saying:

    "There are not going to be any taxes on the rich. The middle class is going to have to be the ones to sacrifice."

    It is possible to read the history of this country as one long struggle to extend the liberties established in our Constitution to everyone in America. - Molly Ivins
