  •  I think the role of OWS (13+ / 0-)

is to raise hell. The political establishment needs to be constantly reminded of income inequality, the corruption of the banking system, and other things that people are upset about.
The worst thing that OWS could do would be to be coopted as a movement into the electoral structure. OWSers are likely to vote Democratic, but that's an individual choice. The movement will just dwindle if it becomes part of-iow subordinate to-the Democratic Party.

    •  The Dem Party should be the subordinate to OWS (6+ / 0-)

movement.  The ideas and concepts need to wash like a tidal wave over anyone expecting to run as a Dem.

It can't become "Emily's List" for the 99%.

There wouldn't not have been so much energy directed at OWS if it wasn't a threat. It is waking people up and encouraging solidarity.

Look at how the soldiers got involved.Look at its affect upon the mortgage lenders.

OWS is one of the most powerful weapons on earth. It is
Public Shame. It exposes the criminals for who they are.
The Democrats would be suicidal to mess with it.

You saw what happen to Erin Burnett when she mouthed off about OWS. It will  happen to every politician who bad-mouths it. They would be better to seek its favor.

OWS is the voice of citizen outrage against the criminal and ethical behavior of the bankers and the mortgage lenders. He who dares to speak out against it, will feel the heat of citizen outrage.

We don't have to agree with everyone in Occupy but we don't agree with our friends all the time either. We have to keep a balanced and real attitude about Occupy and make people realize that we don't have any other voice since politicians don't care about us since they are bought off by corporations.

We want economic fairness. That's not a bad thing to want.
