    Bernbart, fair use is a well-established principle in US copyright law. There are also numerous exemptions for educational purposes and for archives and libraries. Copyright law in fact involves a balance between the good of the intellectual property owners and the broader public good.

    One HUGE problem I have with this law is that it allows the MPAA and the RIAA to completely gut the concept of fair use. Blanket shutdown orders allow them to get all their dirty work done by others, without requiring them to argue the boundaries of fair use in court.
