  •  I like the part about increasing unemployment (13+ / 0-)

    If the Dems had any common sense, they would jump all over this as the Republican deficit reduction program.  They plan to balance the budget by increasing unemployment.

    Polls overwhelming show people are concerned about unemployment, so the Dems should be all over this.  This should be in every political commercial the Dems make.

      it is definitely cheaper to pay unemployment than a regular salary and rethugs actually like an increase in the unemployment rate.

      When he outlined a plan for recovery, IIRC, one of the facets was to avoid laying off government workers when possible.  All it does is reduce consumer spending and increase the cost of unemployment compensation, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.  

      It's good economic policy during a recession, but politically unpopular if Dems don't know how to explain it.
