    that must be ended.
      The claim is often made that doling out these exhorbitant salaries is done to attract the "best" people. But the best people are those who will do public service jobs because they care, and because they are passionate about serving the public good.
       Those given huge salaries and equally huge perks most often act in ways that protect their cushy jobs and the self-serving "empires" they build around them.

      not saying that highly trained people shouldn't be well compensated, but people who would go into medical training programs solely for the income potential are exactly the ones you DON'T want.
