  •  making draconian laws will not change piracy (0+ / 0-)

big media would have been broken completely without services like itunes, Valve's Steam game distribution, Netflix, and similar services.  If they spent as much time trying to take care of the people who make the content (stop screwing them not paying royalties and hollywood accounting games) and making their Customers happy they would not have a problem.  Piracy is a non-issue for the software game maker Valve because they are taking care of their Customers and giving them things they want with their game distribution service and deeply discounted content.

    •  This SOPA/IP is in no way Draconian. (0+ / 0-)

You are living in a fantasy world if you think that IP based businesses would be fine with unchecked piracy if they just took care of the people that make the content and their customers.

Piracy is a huge problem for the gaming industry that is why Sony and microsoft lock down their gaming consoles and why game creators ban people with any sign of modified consoles for online gaming.

Many other developed nations have new laws on their books to combat online piracy including three strikes and you Internet connection gets yanked. Even China and Russia are beginning to fight piracy online.

      •  it is draconian, won't have desired result (0+ / 0-)

your need to read up on Valve' Steam service if you want to see how you really would end piracy.  It has nothing to do with cutting your potential Customers off from your services.
