I would not be just a nuffin'. My head all full of stuffin'. My heart all full of pain. I would dance and be merry. Life would be a ding-a-derry. If I only had a brain. - Scarecrow

It's enough to make me want to give up politics forever, and never look back at this sorry pile of trash. I see what you're saying. I don't necessarily agree with it 100%, but I see what you're saying.

It's just that I have been disappointed so many times that I am beginning to lose count... and I'm not even 30 yet. What I want to know is what will it take to get our public officials doing the right thing on a more or less consistent basis?

Perhaps the problem is that I have little to no faith in those officials, even though in another way I would dearly like to. I keep waiting for the Messiah, even though I have enough sense to know that he isn't coming. On some level, I must confess that these people stop being human beings in my mind. They stop being people who are fallible and can be forgiven for making mistakes; perhaps because from where I'm looking at things, we can't afford any more mistakes. It's not enough to be right 70% or 80% of the time anymore.

Perhaps my standards really are too high. And perhaps the reason that no one who goes into public office is close to halfway decent anymore is because of assholes like me, who can't be satisfied by someone who is right most of the time and is merely human.

But fuck all, I think I'm smart enough to understand that even the best of men have feet of clay. But for God's sake, why do they always find it necessary to show their feet of clay on the things that matter? Why do they break when they ought to hold firm? Is it a communication problem? Is it just that the press never reports on the good things that politicians do because of the intrinsic way the press works? I don't know. But like I said, I feel myself approaching the point of just ignoring sites like this. It seems a poor substitute for actually getting out on the streets and doing something useful with my time, and if it just puts me in a different kind of echo chamber, there ain't much point to it.

    •  that is TRUE! how quickly they fuck over and lie (10+ / 0-)

to the people who thought they'd support that stupid Democratic Platform !!

Of course, pointing out that they're fucking liars

      helps republicans!!

just kidding on the last comment!

what helps republicans is "Democrats" who are lying fucking sell outs.

      rmm.
