    ago set in St Louis partly flattened by the fault's breaking loose. It has all kinds of good stuff; internment camps, trooper brutality, rogue AI, planned takeover of the US, murder, redemption.    All wrapped around people trying to survive with very inadequate assistance.  That's what got me interested in the New Madrid fault.   Darn it, the ground isn't supposed to do that stuff.

    Good article, engineer or no.   Thank you.   I'm sending it to facebook for friends in that area.

      who were apparently moved by myth as regards the New Madrid area and earthquakes.

      I thought the early 1800 era quakes were of the 8.something or higher variety.

      Which was one of the reasons I read the book.

      And this diary, which was better - and I like Allen Steele, especially his 'near earth' tales, like Orbital Decay and Clarke County, Space.

      This was simply splendiferous.
