  •  They took out our little hydro dam on (0+ / 0-)

the Hood River last year and just removed the Condit Dam on the White Salmon across the Columbia River in Washington State just last month. (You Tube the Condit Dam removal, some pretty good film.)

It can be done. The one sad thing about this kind of change is that sediments behind dams contain all kinds of toxic sludge which are eventually diluted, but in the early stages of free running water, are pretty tough on fish and water quality.

Science is hell bent on consensus. Dr. Michael Crichton said “Let’s be clear: The work of science has nothing to do with consensus... which is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right,”

I had an uncle in Idaho who spent years battling Idaho Power to try to prevent the Hells Canyon dams from going in.  He considered an assault on the environment.  And he was a Republican!  I think kind of a Teddy Roosevelt Republican, which is the best possible kind.

Frankly, I blame everything on Nixon.
