But I also believe "fortune favors the bold".

What happened with HCR was that Huckabee's slanted opinion was allowed to become the narrative.  I believe the timidity of Democrats is what led to the Republican victories in 2010.

When someone appears to not be willing to fight for their ideas or programs, it gives the appearance of "if you don't believe in it, why should I"?  (generic you & I)

To unwind his premise required an explanation of the polling - that 15-20% of the people disapproving were doing so because it didn't go far enough, and so would not, therefore, agree with Huckabee.

I'm part of the "15-20%".  I disagree that an explanation was needed.  Simply ignore Huckabee and push the program.

HCR has many good facets to it.  No doubt the pre-existing condition and preventive care measures are a God-send for many.  And Obama is smart, he will not back off contraceptive covererage because that is what most Americans favor.

Democrats should be campaigning on that.

Your insurance company is now forced to cover a $1500-3000 procedure like a colonoscopy.  That's a big deal.

Are there flaws in that coverage?  Absolutely.  The pre-test medication needed is not covered unless one has prescription coverage.  If a growth needs to be removed during a routing colonoscopy, insurance companies are calling that "surgery" with its accompanying surgical deductibles.

But for the majority of Americans a recommended test is within reach.  That is a big deal.

Mammograms are now mandated.  Pap smears are now mandated.  Blood tests for yearly checkups are now mandated.  Hell, yearly checkups are now mandated.

So why not scream it from the mountain tops?

The administration needs to fight for its programs.  It cannot rely on working both sides of street by appealing to the mythical moderates and hope the left sells the message.

So if Obama is willing to fight for "Obamacare", God bless him.  There is plenty good in there to fight for.
