  •  I actually like Tim Kaine... (9+ / 0-)

I have no problem with him at all.

    •  Why? (2+ / 0-)

Was it cutting the estate tax?

Was it raising taxes on the poor after cutting taxes on the rich?

      Defunding public schools?

Abdicating the state while proposing a hideous and half-assed transportation plan?

Following the orders of big coal?

      His tenure as DNC chair?

If you are in Virginia, wait until you see the details of the "public/private" partnerships he signed. Spoiler alert: If the private companies don't make money off the new toll roads, the state owes them $200 million above their contracted rate. Hooray!

Kaine vs. Allen is the epitome of all that is wrong with American politics.

      •  Um, if you read about the debate (5+ / 0-)

Kaine said he wants the Bush tax cuts to end, saying that it's a pipe dream to expect better budgets with no additional revenue.

        •  Um, if you paid attention to his actions, you (0+ / 0-)

would know Kaine's words are meaningless.

He said the same kind of thing in 2005 when he ran for Governor, and then he accomplished what George Allen and Jim Gilmore couldn't do as Governor by eliminating the estate tax. He then turned around and championed raising taxes on poor people through hideous fines which wrecked people's lives over speeding tickets.

He might say nice things in a debate, but when actually has power, he doesn't do nice things.

      •  I'm not going to say I agree with everything (4+ / 0-)

Kaine did as Governor.  But I will say he was Governor during the worst financial crisis in our nation's history other than the Great Depression, and is constitutionally required to balance his budget, like 49 other states -- and compared to most other states, I thought Virginia navigated the financial crisis pretty well.

It's also not like he had big Democratic majorities to work with.  He had to deal with a Republican House.

Bottom line for me, I'm confident Tim Kaine will be a reliable Democratic vote.  And that is what matters most in the Senate.

        •  And a Republican Senate in the first half (1+ / 0-)
