    The Deep South and Appalachia. Obama outperformed in the EC vs. the popular vote in 2008 (the tipping point state was Colorado which he won by 8 points as opposed to his 6 point national vote). If he runs a really excellent field campaign again I could see this repeating but with him winning the tipping point state by 1-2 points and losing the national popular vote by 1-2 points.

      Even realistically come from.  If CA and NY give Obama 5 million votes, I can't foresee any way that FL &GA gives the GOP more than 1 million in margin.  Hard to see a 4 million votes margin in the rest of the south (incl Texas).

      I can't even envision a scenario where Dems win EC and lose the popular vote....
