    ...You gotta figure he'll retire with numbers that bad.  Has Schweitzer given any indication of interest in a possible future Senate bid?

    And while we're on the subject of Montana, am I alone in thinking Tester is playing his cards wrong by channeling Ben Nelson and voting against his party so often leading up to the election?  Unlike Nelson, it seems artificial on Tester's part, and unlike Nebraska, Montana has a decent-sized left-leaning Democratic base vote that Tester will need to turn out in full force if he's gonna win.  I submit that Tester has a much better chance of turning out his base by keeping the Missoula and Butte voters motivated than by trying to win over conservative Miles City ranchers by pretending to be more to the right than he is.

      is a populist state so I think it'll hurt Tester, but he's definitely a genuine moderate (and a conservative on immigration)
