    Didn't help him.

Perhaps that should tell you something....

I was just looking at the VA concealed carry laws and found out that an applicant for a carry permit had to demonstrate competence with a weapon. But the certifying agency seems to be the National Rifle Association. I found that interesting, ironic and somewhat disheartening.

You can also pass a safety course from local law enforcement, college, etc, but it looks like the safety courses use NRA criteria. So gun safety competence is determined by a private advocacy group representing gun pushers. Pathetic.

that the bad person with a gun will probably always get the first shot off, leaving it to all the not-bad people with guns to then prevent the shooter from continuing.

That the bad person with a gun gets the drop on the police officer or the school or the workplace is pretty much a given.  Even approaching a vehicle with a drawn weapon won't stop that.

My wife says I couldn't have done it. And leave my wife out of this.

    •  What is the something that we should be told? (0+ / 0-)

Is it that in situations like these being armed doesn't always help? Or is it that not being armed will always never help?

Life is risky, politics is war, government is force and liberty is very expensive.
