  •  So it's a strategy (0+ / 0-)

to fire thousands of people who know how things work, ship the jobs offshore, reduce your target market, and disinvest in the future?

    Fascinating.

Our current economic reality is the plan, not an accident.  In that, I think you've hit the nail on the head.

    Bravo, Cera, bravo!

    •  Really? (0+ / 0-)

You think Dell had some magic, exclusive treasure trove on how to print motherboards?  I love this, we want all these global standards (say, only a few--probably mutually interoperable--processor archs) and then whine when international competitors finally learn how to produce to spec and produce cheaply.  What's next, you want to bring back IPX and HD-DVD?

I'd love to live in a fantasy world where "strategic planning" is a riskless, ever rewarding exercises that when executed inflicts no destruction whatsoever.  Then maybe I can engage in the sort of conspiracy mongering you seem to favor.

A quant and damned proud of it.

      •  Of course not. (0+ / 0-)

Whack that straw man.  Hit it again!  Harder!

There's no conspiracy, it's simply the inexorable outcome of bad incentives.  Rewind your betamax to the first comment I made on this diary.

Why stop at strawman when you can just flat out deny you even wrote this?  And who gives two figs about the first comment you wrote?  I'm still waiting for a reply to the one at hand.
