Not in favor of the drug war in the slightest, but isn't hemp actually really inefficient when it comes to biodiesel? Per acre I think rapeseed, peanuts, and sunflower all do much better than hemp -- and there are many others that have higher yields as well. So, if biodiesel took off, I don't think hemp would be a good bet, legal or not. Wouldn't there be better uses for hemp, anyway?

Various inefficiencies in hemp's commercial application in the fuel sector, of course, shouldn't negatively impact policy on marijuana.

      But who cares?

      We have alligators.

1/5th or 1/3rd yield per acre compared to other readily available biofuel sources isn't efficient. If you have other yield comparison numbers, fine. And, again, just because it's not the best plant for biofuels doesn't mean that it's commercially useless or that marijuana policy should be what it is.

...I'm talking about efficient use of land. It seems like there would be far better uses of the land than growing hemp for biofuel purposes. Now, running hemp farms on biodiesel from the hemp plant itself, that makes some sense I guess.

As you say, though, we have alligators.
