    this serves the other side.

Wrong. it exposes the other side, the faction that has the greed and selfcenteredness and desire to run things as if they had a little clique of leaders, in short importing the "1% elitism and tactics of a self serving club right into the attempt to get a brand new start on a democratic organization that wanted it top to bottom representative and as direct as possible.

If we are not clear on this dynamic we are pulled the wrong way or deflected from our goal by it.

This is meta, but some much needed meta.

Might it be true that some of the high profile attacks on the Occupy camps were the result of splits and factional disruption in the Occupy local movement itself that invited a confrontation ?  as Craig's analysis here presents.

Rather looks like it to me.  And this is not just LA but several other places where this sort of thing happened.

If you think that you and a bunch of other people can just show up on Wall St, camp out and have any effect whatsoever.... well, you will be run off in 20 minutes., you will leave town having wasted your effort 6/18/11.
