  •  Reminds me of retinal "spot-welding"... (1+ / 0-)

I had several episodes of retinal tears a few years ago in my right eye. They can lead to total retinal detachment if not corrected in time, and the remedy was to have what amounts to laser spot welding performed to tack the dang things back down along the tears. It was an intense green light that left me blind (in the one eye) for about 2 or 3 minutes after the procedure. The doctor explained that the laser light bleaches out some kind of pigment in the retina that is necessary in the light detection process, but that it quickly grows back in. It was kind of spooky there for a few minutes, though, and it had all been explained beforehand. It was pretty painful and my longest session went on for about 20 minutes. Luckily they had a way of keeping that eye open so I could kind of relax and go to a happy place for the duration.

I'm sure the police will also carefully explain the procedure beforehand and meticulously calibrate the laser so as not to cause lasting damage. Uh-huh.

Ok then, at least the protesters might not be presented with a huge bill after the procedure. Uh-huh.

    Moderation in most things.
