you because I think anyone who posts and subscribes to this kind of hatred has the potential to become violent.  This is an older man, not just some kid.  And I don't know if he is part of some group like the KKK or some else.  But, those groups do still exist.  My Great Aunt lived in Skokie, IL in the 1970's and the Jews there endured the Neo-Nazis marching through town.  That kind of mindset has not disappeared.

But they're cargo cultists.  Wannabes.  They're not even the same species of evil as the psychos whose symbols they ape.  They're dangerous in the way that street gangs are dangerous - but they have to scurry back into the walls when the lights are shined on them.

The people to be really worried about aren't going to flash swastikas around - even the actual Nazis wouldn't be doing that today, because they'd recognize that the symbol was a liability and pick something else.  We're fighting the real dangerous people right here - the ones with crosses and prurient fixations on the American flag, who own international businesses and donate to the GOP.  The Koches et al.

and agree with a lot of what your saying, the mindset is still there, but they are going about it in a different way.  The trouble I have is that the ones with the crosses, fixations on the American flag, and that donate to the GOP are stirring the pot for people that are racist and are cargo cultists.  Just look at how Sarah Palin or Ann Coulter are able to stirred up people.

I guess I'm just trying to say that I haven't seen things so stirred up since the Civil Rights Movement and I think a little respect for the people from our politicians and some boundaries could be a benefit.

Sorry, if I'm not making much sense tonight, I have a bad migraine and am just about ready to turn in for the night.  Take care and have a good night.

      •  Zaka1's incident is beyond politics. (2+ / 0-)

The specific zaka1 is describing goes beyond politics: People who show clear signs of escalation in violent rhetoric are very likely to escalate to action.

Radical, racist right-wingers are as prone to violence as any other gang member. The hundreds of violent attacks and mass shootings from avowed racists neo-Nazis shows that they mean business.

Once again, it is never safe to assume that a person who uses violent rhetoric is incapable of violence. Zaka1, I would strongly recommend devising an effective self defense strategy as soon as possible.
