the thing I wonder is ... given that [he] was apparently willing to lie to and deceive... his [wife], despite his sworn marriage vows ...

Why would anyone think he is remotely trustworthy in any other area of his wretched existence?  If he would lie to his spouse[s], then it is just a given that he would (and will) lie to anyone -- about anything -- if it should be of benefit to himself.

Yeah, but every time I said that about Clinton I'd get booed....

At the same time that all that was going on in 1998 I was on a jury for an aggravated felonious sexual assault. That was where I learned what a deposition is. The Clintons are lawyers. They already knew that. If Bill hadn't 'hidden' and lied about it, America could have saved lots of time and millions of dollars. But no- he couldn't just say, "I did it, it was good- next question."

So I say teach the children well. You don't cheat at Checkers or Monopoly, even if your opponent leaves the room for a minute. Then later, you don't cheat on your girlfriend, wife, business partner, country, etc.   Right...???! Gentlemen where has the honor gone behind your names?

I agree that the standard holds for Clinton too.

Once someone is caught in a lie, you can never quite trust anything they say, ever again -- even if they never tell another.

I would point this out in my domestic abuse groups:  As far as other people are concerned, you are your word.  If your word means nothing, then you mean nothing.

That is something serial liars don't seem to understand.  They always think that you're so stupid that you'll fall for the next lie, even after they've been caught in others.

Whether they are caught or not is one part how well they've lied and one part happenstance.

If you find your opinion of someone changing massively because you discovered they are capable of lying you have never learned or forgotten that everyone lies. Everyone.

Advisors for President-Elect Barack Obama feared the new administration would face a coup if it prosecuted Bush-era war crimes, according to a new report out this morning.
