    Someone else made this comment, and while I think he was trying to use it to slam OWS, it does have some validity.  I'm generally of the you can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs school, but it would be good for workers and good PR to do that.

      "We the 99% feel it is fundamentally unfair and unjust that millions of workers are not allotted any paid time off- even when they are unable to come to work due to events beyond their control. Whether it is a child's illness, a death in the family, a natural disaster or a protest, these workers are forced to pay the price. The consequences can be anything from a skipped meal to a late mortgage payment, and being thrown on the streets. In a country where the 1% have seen their wealth grow 300% over the last 30 years, while the rest of us have stagnated or sunk into poverty, in the only developed country in the world that does not provide paid time off as a basic right of employment, we feel this is a grave injustice. Therefore, we will do what the 1% is unwilling to do, and pay all of the dockworkers and truck drivers who missed a days pay what they are owed-and hope this serves as an example for all employers on how to treat their workers fairly"

      (that's just off the top of my head, I'm sure they could come up with a better statement, but something along those lines)
