  •  So glad you came here and stayed, Kaili! (5+ / 0-)

And thank you for sticking up for women's rights.  Every time I see how much we've regressed in that regard, I feel a "chill down my leg," to paraphrase Tweety.  People are saying "man the help desk" instead of "staff the help desk," "mankind" instead of "humankind," and "man" instead of "humanity" or "humankind."  Makes my blood boil.

And I won't even go into the matter of TV crime shows that teach that women are nothing but prey for male predators, books that sport titles such as The __'s Wife, The __'s Daughter, The__'s Mother, The ___'s Sister.  Why are women defined only in terms of our relationships?  Don't WE ever achieve anything on our own?  How about books with such titles as The Hotshot Lawyer's Husband, The Prima Ballerina Assoluta's Son, or The Professor Emerita's Brother?

It would make a pleasant change, as would a woman POTUS.  Don't expect to see that in my lifetime (which is two-thirds over anyway, if that fortune teller from years ago is to be believed.)
