The only fact you contradict me on is the number of signatures, which Chris Redfern himself was the source on—not, as you imply, the Plain Dealer. Forgetting anything about the company quoted in the article (Professional Petition Management), 135K with less than two weeks to go was distressing.

What's more, Redfern himself refused to even guarantee the success of the drive. That's such a simple thing to say that the fact that he didn't said a lot to me. What's more, he even suggested that they might try asking the Supreme Court (again) for more time.

So yeah, my negative views are based on information directly from Redfern — not any spin by the Plain Dealer, not any grousing by the petition company. I'm glad that whomever you spoke to at the ODP had a rosier view of things, but the fact that the chair of the party himself offered such pessimistic data & statements is what caused my pessimistic reaction.

Would have been great to have that detail when you first wrote. It's a sure sign that we're reading everything that you write, eh? It is incredibly frustrating seeing old-line parties not getting it the way the WI people have, and not even realizing the resources available to them from across the country. Can you shake Redfern for us? It's like trying to get anything done here in IL at the local/state level. If I get one more notice of a County Dem Party golf outing (WTF????) fund raiser I'll jump thru my screen and throttle them personally. Sigh.
