    Well, this was pre-fracking so I was thinking more like "lots and lots of high explosives" but it does make intuitive sense that you could periodically relieve the pressure on big-time fault lines to prevent the Big One.  Of course, there would be some enormous liability issues associated with trying to provoke earthquakes.  

    But nobody's buying flowers from the flower lady.
