legal in this country, thanks to the one-sided labor laws. Unfortunately.

done in Oakland so far has been illegal I'm not so worried about that.  That's really my question though, what would it take for the union leaders to endorse an illegal strike.  This has happened before, the subway strike in 2006(I think that's when it was) was illegal and the union got fined for it.  Of course, there could always be another general strike demanding that no one get punished for the first one.

Not that I find these things likely at this point, but they are most certainly possible.

There revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

strike was over immediate, existential threats to their union. If the port unions go on strike to support Occupy, they may very well become the new PATCO.

wouldn't stand for that.  I would bet that the government would need to call out the national guard if they tried to decertify the ILWU.  This is one of the most militant unions in the country, and they move millions if not billions of dollars of products every year.  If they try to get rid of this union then the ports get shut the fuck down, not for a day, but for as long as it takes.  And now the folks in charge know the ILWU has the occupations on board.

I dare them to try it.

I am afraid that the government would, and there would be much blood shed. Blood from our side, not from the powers that be.
