Unless you think that the GOP is either going to literally destroy civilization via nukular war or is going to cancel the 2016 election, I fail to see how losing the Presidency qualifies as Game Over.

It seems much more like Getting The Attention of "Our" Side so they listen the next time they're in power.

    •  Yeah. A GOP President would be no big deal. (0+ / 0-)

      Shah. Right. As if.

Half this blog would be having a nightly hemorrhage.

I didn't say a GOP president would be no big deal. I said that it would also not be "Game Over".

I think that a GOP president would be regrettable in the short run, but that if seeing Obama become a 1-term president had the effect of convincing the next Democratic president to behave differently then having such a GOP interlude might be worth it.

And we'll put up with an excruciating four years of misery.

Consider the downhill slide of the presidency since Eisenhower and Nixon.

If we had the presidency of an Eisenhower or even a Nixon, I wouldn't scream about it (but I did then, about Nixon). But look what Reagan and the two Bushes did to this nation.
