To be open about their incredibly unpopular plans for Medicare?

Wyden (unintentionally I guess) has done the president a huge favor. Ever since the Ryan plan the Republicans have been smart enough to shut about this stuff. Now they're gonna go public with it again. And get slapped down again. By high-voting demographics. In an election year.

Maybe Obama will even be lucky enough to get to veto the bill in October!

it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses

and the more I think about, the more it seems plausible that Democrats will counter the plan's increased semi-bipartisanship by simply pointing out what the plan contains. I mean, let's be honest, in 2010 Democrats weren't helped by the fact that Olympia Snowe and Joseph Cao both voted in favour of drafts of the healthcare bill. If we get Ron Wyden to just withdraw his support and moderate his position (likely, I'll think he'll shut up and continue to talk about the stuff he's great on i.e. the internet and civil liberties), Republicans won't gain much, and even if he doesn't...well, won't matter.

It won't pass the Senate, and obviously I reckon it'll pass the House with similar margins to the old bill (wouldn't be surprised if Rehberg or another one of the four GOP defectors switched their votes, or a few other supposed "moderate" Republicans change to Nay to save their hides, or a couple of asshole Blue Dogs vote Aye); but the very fact Ryancare is news again is good for us.

Hell, this is even good news for us in the upcoming special election in Wyden's home state, in my opinion.
