        ...I thought this was a response to the main diary. It was a response to jj32's comment.

        Look, if we have a huge embassy in Iraq we're going to have a huge contingent of mercenaries. We should have a smaller footprint all around and not pretend like our non-military foreign policy will finally get us the thrown flowers and gratitude we've pined for since 2003. A smaller footprint will allow us to avoid paying private security contractors to run amok around Iraq, giving us even more of a bad name in that country.

        So, because we decided to build a city within a city, the situation re American security in Iraq is different than in Morocco and Uganda -- although both of those countries are relatively insecure for Americans vis-a-vis "terrorism".
