Although I disagreed with his stances on the war, and remain a much bigger of fan of his earlier work, and rhetorical writings and book reviews I will miss his work.

In regards to the Iraq War; I do not view him the same way I do the neocons. Hitchens was no neocon. The neocons wanted war for the sake of wanting war and expressing your military might to show how tough you are, as has always been the case with neocons.

With Hitchens, although I disagree, it came from a much better place. He unlike the neocons had spent years, decades even in these places and spoken about how horribly the women and people are treated. So, with him, it was not a matter of war for the sake of war. I believe without a doubt he believed toppling these regimes can make a better life for these people.

And I must say although we have learned there are far better tactics to take, I don't mind his point of view on it.
