I think I've seen Joe Romm mention peak oil a few times - my impression is he's not out to lunch on it.

The "peak oil team" includes many from the industry - their perspective is that oil has brought us the good life - they don't always like to hear that the oil-fueled good life is damaging.

Some commenters on the oil drum don't want to hear from climate change. But others are very up-to-speed. It's a mix.

People like James Hansen are very aware of the amounts of fossil fuels left. Climate people I know are aware of limits on oil production.

    interesting times.

That the reason for the split is the usual activist tunnel vision: when you're focused on one problem, anything that might compete with it for mindshare is something to ignore.

You're right Romm is aware of it, but at the same time he doesn't want to really talk about it in any depth.  And he doesn't acknowledge that his favorite climate responses do basically nothing for responding to peak oil.

Yeah, the folks at the oil drum are a big mix... - thoughts on energy, the environment, and society.
