  •  one of China's primary concerns..... (5+ / 0-)

... is that instability and other trouble in DPRK can result in refugees crossing into China in large enough numbers to become problematic for China.

China's goal for DPRK has always been stability and economic sufficiency, hence extensive foreign aid and advisors on the ground.

"Minus one vote for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

    •  Frankl I doubt it. I think their main (0+ / 0-)

concern is that there are no US troops stationed across the Yalu river.

China also borders Burma, Afghanistan and the USSR- countries that have gone through considerable tumult. I doubt they are terribly concerened aout the collapse of N Korea either way.

      •  Nope, they are very concerned (3+ / 0-)

China has been very concerned with the flow of refugees from North Korea already. The Korean autonomous regions in China are poor and ill-equipped to deal with refugees. If there is a total collapse of military control like what happened in Berlin, they will be absolutely deluged with a flow of desperate people.
