Everyone has waited for this day.
This should be a tipping poit for the NK people.
However. This could get very tense as this will, in the short run, be a dangerous time.
Now his son will have to prove his metal by acting tough. Historically that has meant firing on SK ships etc.

Pentagon strategists have told me that the fall of NK will reveal a huge loss of face for the Chinese leadership. For propping up this tyrant who has kept his people, in crushing poverty for decades. They could have removed him from power any time they wanted.
God be with the Korean peoples as all concerned try to sheperd this last cold war era holdout. Into the community of freer nations.

    •  how about this: DPRK moves toward the.... (3+ / 0-)

.... Chinese model, perhaps during the Kim Jong-un regime, with plenty of Chinese advisors there to subtly guide the situation over a period of about a decade or two.

Thus it remains separate from ROK but over time the walls come down and there is more interchange between the North and South.

China saves face and gains a more economically productive friendly regime on its border, the Korean people are spared a war and refugee crisis, and over time things more or less normalize.

      What do you think?

"Minus one vote for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
