I wonder if we'll squeeze in a Zawahiri or Castro before Christmas.

And now that Kim and Gaddafi have both died in the last two months, who now holds the mantle of world's wackiest dictator?

.... approved of taking out al Awlaki.  Good Grief!, I get so sick and tired of people defending that bastard.  He was in a leadership position in a hostile foreign force, which makes him a hostile combatant by definition.  And we didn't "assassinate" him, we took him out with zero collateral casualties, which is supposed to be the goal of modern warfare.  May he rot in hell.

Though I'll differ with you about Castro, who as far as I can tell did a pretty decent job running Cuba, all things considered.  For instance they got over their "peak oil" crisis (when Russia cut off their oil supplies) with no deaths and a massive transition to post-petroleum agriculture and infrastructure.  Cuba has a first-class educational and medical system, and the life expectancies to prove it.

Various forms of criticism of the regime are tolerated, so long as they didn't criticize the premises of the revolution.  In that regard, Cuba was a paradise of liberty compared to DPRK.  And even compared to Saudi Arabia (women are property) and Dubai (widespread overt slavery).

Personally I would be far happier to see a bunch of Saudi princes bite the desert dust, such as the ones who funded AQ to hit us in 2001.  The best thing we could do toward that end would be to make energy independence a national policy priority.

"Minus one vote for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
