To me at least, i think Lancaster County is the ground zero for growing the GOP at the state level.  A big growing  district that can (not necessarily will) vote 60%, 65% maybe (even rarely) close to 70% GOP is really something the GOP should be nurturing.

Neutralizing Lancaster in any way by the GOP to me seems to weaken the future of the GOP in PA, which I don't think is terrifically strong to begin with.

Why not spread the wealth a bit to help Meehan? I don't quite understand your logic here.

If I were GOP, but wouldn't want to tick off Lancaster in any way.  You'd have to re-draw a few districts and have them tendril into CPA some weird way.  I'm not a mapper so I presume its near impossible or a logistical nightmare, but pragmatically I'd bow to the wishes of Lancaster and York right now.

I just think Lancaster and York are where the PA GOP needs to kind of give them what they want.  The PA GOP future in the rest of the state (where there's actual population) is questionable.

and thereby actually hurt the PA GOP because wonks are pissed about some redistricting boundaries in relation to Lancaster? I don't understand how this hurts the GOP.
