  •  I don't think you are right about Boehner (11+ / 0-)

I think that they voted the way they did because of vacation plans and because they knew they would lose, if they forced a vote. Further, they would piss off any Republicans who sometimes go full Tea Party and sometimes do not. Finally, they would give more favorable headlines to Obama.

Come January, I think Boehner will pay for this.

His party is out of control, and he's not the man to control it.

Exactly my take on it.  Boehner is far from out of the woods on this; it wouldn't surprise me if there was a leadership fight when the session starts up in January, or perhaps the tea headists set Boehner up for a similar fall in February and then take him out.

      •  Unanimous consent is the chicken's way out. (0+ / 0-)

Boehner refused a vote on the Bill. All indications were that it would have passed with a combination of all the Dems and the non-Bagger Repubs. The Bagger caucus would be further marginalized by the public and could deny Boehner from using his "good cop/bad cop" routine in future negotiations(I'd love to bring that Bill to the floor but the Tea Party Caucus is just too powerful and it will never pass). Passing the Bill through Consent allows the Bill to pass without putting the bagger's votes on record.

    •  Yep and pass the whine please... (1+ / 0-)
