    and actual means testing are two different things, politically. Sure, wealthy people don't get as much benefit from their social security checks (and some really really rich folks don't get it at all, never having had an actual pay check) because of income tax and limits on contributions causing limits to payouts.

    But the basic premise is still: you pay in, you get the benefit.

    Really, means testing Social Security, or denying benefits based on wealth, is the camel's nose under the tent of destroying the program entirely. FDR knew this when he set the program up, and he set it up the way he did to prevent Right Wing attacks. The Right Wing also knows this, which is why they keep trying to introduce this as a 'reasonable' adjustment, to 'fix' something that really isn't broken.

    It bothers me when people posting on this site, who are supposed to be looking out for the 99%, buy into this pernicious right wing idea.
