    We should, as part of a sensible society, require people who sell products that have a hazardous waste disposal issue to (help) provide an easy way for the recycling / disposal.  For example, how about collection of batteries at hardware stores, convenience stores, etc where batteries are sold rather than the millions that get dumped in the trash. Same thing with CFLs -- shouldn't have to jump in a car for a special trip for disposing on them properly. And, considering the pollution of that type of trip, perhaps the advice for disposing by wrapping in paper and putting in the trash is best.

    However, hopefully major transition to LEDs is starting ...
