  •  But its clean! (6+ / 0-)

    That's what the ads say!

I guess China treats us a third world country now. Not happy about it, but considering the US has treated the a large part of the rest of the world this way as long it has, its not surprising.

All the great strides China has made in developing green energy, its a shame they have to greatly reduce its effectiveness in slowing down global warning with their seemingly unquenchable thirst for coal.

    •  Like us, the Chinese need it to survive right now. (2+ / 0-)

Unlike us, they are putting a lot into research and development of new green/clean energy sources; when new energy methods are available, the Chinese will be using them to replace dirty energy sources...while we will cling to our filthy energy to the bitter end, just to keep wealthy corporate overlords filthy rich.

We have a tendency to write off the Chinese as ignorant peasants and rigid Commies (whose goal is to build a military capacity to invade the globe).  They are not.  They are a very bright people with a very long history of discovery and innovation. We underestimate them.

One day, when we are forced to look for alternatives to our dwindling fossil fuels, we will be buying clean technology from them...technology that could and should have been developed and produced here.  In this respect we are victims of our own propaganda.

If buying it from them is cheaper than developing it was we should buy it from them.

If it is more expensive, then we can redevelop the technology more cheaply than they did because we will know many of the right answers when we start.

          place.

What will or will not be cheap or expensive in the future - and who will be setting the prices - is unknowable.
