  •  As much as I dislike nuclear energy, the poisoning (2+ / 0-)

from coal plants that falls down on us Every. Single. Day. is much greater than the potential for a nuclear disaster.

Not to mention the CO2 emissions and their effect on global climate change.

Every election either the democrats lose or the republicans lose. But in every election there is always the same winner. And he drives a Mercedes.

    •  Yeah, but the nukes seem to have a habit (0+ / 0-)

of chasing us off of significant plots of land for long periods of time. Can't really have that continuing to happen.

Actually, I would probably just live in an exclusion zone and run tourists in and out like they do at Pripyat. But a lot of other people don't think like I do and I have to respect their opinions regarding the proliferation of the beasts, if you'll pardon the expression.

Unless you are married to Centralized Energy Production. If on the other hand, you are committed to De-Centralized energy gain and lower Transmission losses:

      1) Efficiency (Home, Business, Transport): 40% in 10 years
      2) Geothermal: 20% gain in 10 years,
      3) Wind: 10% gain in 10 years
      4) Lower Transmission Loss: 20-30% in 10 years.

This is with existing technology at a very low cost compared to any other energy plan. It it foolishness of the highest order to do anything else if we want to survive past the next three or four generations. Of course, you have to WANT to think about the next three or four generations of people.

      •  Recent history has shown that we are fully capable (0+ / 0-)

of implementing foolishness of the highest order, and not just when it comes to energy.
