  •  or better how about this (2+ / 0-)

(I don't vouch for the complete accuracy of that article, but it does speak to a certain sort of credibility on this topic)

    •  Hadn't seen that article. Bizarre. (0+ / 0-)

It's obviously the opposite of "anonymous."

I doubt if "barrettbrown" has anything to do with the major anonymous exploits.

    •  By the way, if you can't vouch for the (0+ / 0-)

accuracy of that article, which includes intimate details such as the young man's mother getting his carpet cleaned before the interview, then on what basis do you claim that "it does speak to a certain sort of credibility on this topic"?  I really don't get that.

      •  sorry to be unclear, I just meant (8+ / 0-)

that the article appears to verify Barrett Brown is a journalist who has seriously both studied and engaged with one or more of the tendencies within Anonymous. So we should take what he writes about this seriously absent evidence to the contrary.

However, I found that article after a quick search. Since someone like Brown might have a rather complex public persona, I didn't want to leave the impression that I had vetted the linked article for accuracy or balance.  This is really complex terrain & we're living amidst a torrent of changes. So I'm quite certain that there's more to the story.

In the last 24 hours there have even been dueling "press releases" about who really carried out this hack.

Wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now, nor anylone else that might know what Anonymous is doing or who they arre. Remember howw theyve been cutting down civil liberties and amping up technology to spy on Amrrican citizens? theyre using that all now.
They want to find these people----bad!!!
Thats so freaking obvious you have to wonder if BArrett Brown is a madeup identity. I would expect a LOT od distracting disinformation in this case, from all sides

          Happy just to be alive

          •  How is BB target #1? (3+ / 0-)

He didn't hack shit.  He's merely writing an article about the ramifications of the hack that did occur and how as usual, the MSM is missing the entire point.  I think some here are not quite clear on the nature of Anonymous or how it works.  Barrett is not a made up identity.  He's very public and wrote for freaking Salon and other mags.  Sheesh.
