I was totally excited until I heard the cost to put a wind generator on our place:  $115,000!!!
excessive.  How big was the turbine?  Home wind generators range in size from "tiny" (8 feet diameter) to huge (69 ft. diameter).  Bigger ones cost more and produce more power.  The size that would be right for you depends on what your average wind speed is, and how much electricity you use per month.  Have you put up a nice tall pole, 30 feet minimum, with a recording anemometer on top?

Subscribe to Home Power magazine.  After a year or two of reading it, you will know so much about making your own electricity!   And you can get back issues to help yourself catch up faster.

Don't take "$115,000" as the final answer.  Bergey Windpower offers a small wind turbine for $22,000 and towers for $10,000 to $14,000 depending on type.  This is just an example; other companies may have comparable equipment.  If you really want a wind turbine, do more shopping.
