  •  weren't the governor and AG (0+ / 0-)

all considering running?  If the seat is winnable by Nelson, perhaps it'll be winnable by a(nother) democrat.

I agree that Ben Nelson is better than a Republican, but that doesn't mean (a) his seat was salvagable or (b) worth diverting resources that could shore up a better party stalwart.  Which means (c) case not closed.

It depends on who gets through the GOP primary.  I doubt Democratic Jesus could beat Gov. Bruning.  That said, Nebraska's even worse than I thought if AG Stenberg is unbeatable.

    •  yeah but they need to fit the criterea (0+ / 0-)

of being a former Gov/senator to compete here

Senator Exon is dead so is Edward Zorinsky!

All we have left is Kerrey and I doubt he would run

in response to the claim the opposition to Nelson was weak.

Kerrey, ugh.  Was pro-Iraq war and then anti-union and anti-academic freedom as President of the New School.

I just don't see us getting a grade A quality progressive candidate winning in  a state like this.
