    similar ways. Then I learned it's all about getting the legislation you want passed, making policy, making laws. What temporary alliances one has to make along the way are inconsequential. I'm hoping orthodoxy is what does in the Repubs.

      Not sure exactly to what you are referring, but there seems to be a lack of understanding of marginal analysis in the comments.  I pointed this out on the financial side up thread.  However, it applies to candidates too.  I'm really interested in upgrades, not just how the candidate compares to me.  For instance if we are just interested in MA, NE, and NV, we should look at the differences between:

      Berkley and Heller
      Warren and Brown
      Nelson and NE Republican

      Honestly, that's how I would rank them too.  Nelson is certainly an upgrade over a NE Republican, though probably not as large as an upgrade as Berkley over Heller or Warren over Brown.  Including other races, such as OH, FL, MI, etc., I would continue to put Nelson over NE Republican low on this list.  So, I see this as a loss, but not the biggest one.
