according to everyone except the hardcore Christian right.

Then again, many of them think I'M not a real Christian (I'm Methodist, and obviously vote Democratic.)

I mean, look at Matthew 6:5,6. Would the Republicans accept such a bold statement against school prayer? And how about all the passages that the GOP calls "Class Warfare." If Jesus came down here in the flesh and ran for President, the Republicans would have nothing to do with the hippie.

    •  Mormons aren't Christians to most all Christians (0+ / 0-)

Sorry, TDDVandy.  Almost every Christian denomination considers Mormons to be outside the historic bounds of Christianity.

For example, the United Methodist Church says

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by self-definition, does not fit within the bounds of the historic, apostolic tradition of Christian faith."

The Methodists, like Catholics, Lutherans, Presbyterians do not recognize Mormon baptisms as valid.

OTOH, Mormons don't recognize baptisms by non-LDS churches as valid. And they regard non-LDS churches as apostates.
