My dad worked for the Indian Railways.
I wish I could tell some stories, for the Indian railways are in a sense the lifeblood and a microcosm of India.
But dad was one of those silent types, just did what he had to do.
Your diary was a much loving tribute to a fine working man.
My dad passed away earlier this year, long retired, he was able to see his son do better. He only completed high school.
He retired when I was still in high school, and he continued to work for another decade in different jobs, just so he could help me and sis get enough of a university education.
Mom helped out too. She never finished school, learned to read and write with my dad's help and then ran a small business from home as a seamstress.
We barely made it month to month.
    So your tribute moved me!
I can never forget where I came from. It makes me what I am today.
