      We don't have a very good history of reprocessing in this county if that is what you are aiming at.

      wealth and lives on the nuclear MIC corruption racket, the waste isn't a resource. It's just exceptionally nasty and dangerous industrial waste. Which, come to think of it, it is right now.

      Reprocessing is a dirty process all by itself. As long as we're positing a currently nonexistent nuclear waste to energy facility, why not posit the more probable energy solution of efficient wind and solar projects.
      A nonexistent Yucca Mountain waste dump serves the same purpose as a nonexistent nuclear waste 'recycling' machine: it gives the industry an excuse to keep on making waste nobody is ever going to have the money or interest to deal with.
