  •  I Advise the AEI to Look Up Iran on Wikipedia (9+ / 0-)

It's about one-fifth the size of the continental U.S. with a population about one-quarter of hours.

It is absolutely impossible for us to subdue a nation of this size with a conventional weapons attack. We couldn't even do it to a much smaller Iraq with less than half the population.

The AEI is taking a very extreme position and, of course, if Mitt Romney had any chance of defeating Obama in 2012, he'd do it during his first months of office.

400,000 was the original projection needed for Iraq and not the some 150K that was actually sent. So figure 1.2 to 1.6 Million at the bare minimum

And that's ignoring the fact that Iran can muster a "Home Guard" of some 40MM

nuke Tehran with a large (10-20MT) citybuster, possibly even a Cobalt Bomb, to "break their will to continue fighting".  Keep in mind that Cobalt bombs are trivial to make as long as you have a regular nuclear weapon to start with.  Even a couple of high school shop students could do it if they were given a hazmat suit, the cobalt, and the nuke to modify.

There is no saving throw against stupid.

        •  Basically kill 9MM in a single flash of light (1+ / 0-)

I'd say that basically fits under the heading of Genocide.

There are a number of nuclear weapons that are variants of the Teller-Ulam H-bomb.

Including the Neutron, Cobalt, and  the 50-100MT Fusion boosted.
