is an Irish author whose novels are set in Dublin. She has written only 3 so far, but "In the Woods" won the Edgar award in 2007.  I happened upon one of her books in my local library, devoured it, rushed back to check out the remaining one...then discovered a new one had just been published, so ordered that one too.  You will really love the Dublin setting, which becomes almost the main character in her books....along with the peculiarities of the modern Irish middle class. Her 3 books have continuing characters, are not too gory, and are ripping good reads. It is not difficult to figure out the murderer in her books, but she goes beyond catching the killer, to continue her characters' development.  I can recommend all 3 books highly.

they really are great. As you say, "ripping good reads." The character development is excellent. I enjoyed all three of these novels. Glad you remembered to mention Tana French!
