  •  "American economic refugee" (0+ / 0-)

Is this a term that is entering the lexicon of common usage? I've worked with war refugees from Somalia, and my High School Latin teacher was a political refugee from Hungary way back when. I've often thought of the Latin American immigrants I've worked with as being economic refugees of a sort.

Based on my personal experience, which I'll admit is quite personal, I'm having difficulty wrapping my head around your situation as being one of economic refugee. Has the definition of refugee broadened, or is my admittedly limited experience too narrow?

      •  Well, I read the comment (0+ / 0-)

but I'm not sure how that addresses my question?

Its no big deal, really. I was just curious because I've not heard the term outside of your diaries. I have heard the term "health care refugees," and I'm just wondering if there is an overall reconsidering as to what a refugee is.

Well the impression one gets from criticism from someone like yourself who doesn't support the diary (ie recommend) is that you're coming from a negative place and you're not in support of what we're trying to do in this diary. Which is fine, it's you're right. But we don't have to help you in that point of view if that's where you're coming from. Be that as it may, I think you may find this video addresses the point you bring up should you take the time to watch it that is.

As clearly the lack of health care in America is pushing Americans into leaving America and keeps Americans from returning to America, due to the costs issues involved. These people are economic refugees, because they are unable to return to their country due to economic issues. They feel that they have been exiled from their home. If you watch this video, you can see that I am not making it up and it's not just my diaries. Its reality and the problem is too many people are in denial of that reality and they spread misinformation and disinformation in asking for proof of issues that are in fact axiomatic, that is to say the proof that is all around this.

We know with pre-existing conditions, people get denied care and some of those people in order to get care have to leave America. People with pre-existing conditions, even if they are American, cannot come back to live in America due to the economic issues involved in the robber baron, for-profit American medical system. I don't usually spend this amount of time responding to issues to someone who doesn't support what we're trying to do in this diary because experience has proven it’s not a good use of time or energy, so I won't be replying further to you. I'll leave it up to our readers to respond to you further or not (as they may see fit).
