The first potential piece of the puzzle toward increasing the number of Democratic seats in the Wisconsin Assembly was found following the announcement of former Democrat, now right-leaning Representative of the 25th district (Manitowoc) Bob Ziegelbauer, that he would not run for reelection.  This increases the possibility of electing a Democrat here, which would have been next to impossible had Ziegelbauer run in 2012.

Htrnews.com Ziegelbauer won't seek 11th state assembly term

Ziegelbauer was elected as a Dem for most of his terms.  A Democrat could conceivably win the 2012 election.  The bulk of the population, pre and post redistricting, is the city of Manitowoc.
